Mirror of Ice Build, Achievable?
okay. So i saw the mirror of ice build on wiki and decided it looked pretty good, except that the skill (and the elite) ' Mirror of Ice ' Was only available to capture at the END of factions, which i was nowhere near. I saw that the elite was actually the optional slot but now i'm confused as to wot i shud swap it for? if anyone has any experience with the build or if anyone knows about it i cud use help :I.

Actually, you cap Mirror of Ice from the elemental's construct during, or after the Sunjiang District mission.

your decision has failed, though.

what's wrong with it? it has good protection and also deals decent damage, i dont see the flaw, cept for enchant stripping.

He could mean, D/E using Mirror Of Ice? Or perhaps that you've decided not to go with Mirror Of Ice.
I've never seen the build, so my question is, why would you go D/E and use an Ele elite? Would you not be better off as a E/x?
Unless you like the enchantments removal to give you health and energy from Mysticism.
Shuuda's correct, so you should be able to cap it quickly.

The Concept behind the Mirror of Ice Dervish is that you basically have Immunity to all spells that target Directly (except enchantment removers), Interupting the caster Indirectly and slapping them in the face for targetting you (damaging them, for 60 seconds at a cost of 5 energy).
That, combined with increased armor against Physical Damage and Increased damage from wielding an icy weapon you get from the skills.
Its a very interesting concept indeed. I've also been interested in it

I agree with Mokone actually.
Mirror of Ice is a cool and fun concept, but in terms of strenght it leaves much to be desired. That build is NOT about optimization as much as about having fun trying something new.
I could give constructive feedback if anyone cares;
the build doesnt have Heart of Fury. Yes, 2 of the attack skills are fast, but still. HoF is a great dmg booster. If nothing else i'd put only 2 attack skills + HoF.
Second, Chilling Victory. I really feel that this should be #1 dervish attack skill in PvE, except in some specific builds such as Zealous Vow. Chilling is absolutely awesome! Remember that its first cost was 15e, then it was dropped to 10e at release.
Conjure Frost seems interesting now, post-buff, but keep in mind that you're losing Zealous/Vampiric/Sundering grip, so dmg is somewhat lower, but still seems decent (didnt try it postbuff, cant tell how it works in practice).
Mirror of Ice itself, while fun, is really not that great. Nightfall has tons of areas where you cant (easily) control whom the monsters will focus on. In short, if they focus on ANYONE else in the group, the elite skill is next to useless. Now, if i got it right, only 1 spell is negated? Then one has to recast Mirror? It doesnt seem that great to me, even though i didnt test it in practice.
Frigid Armor is IMO overrated, but fits this build.
Altogether, i like the build for an interesting approach, but i wouldnt talk of it as a great build in terms of defense/attack. And i certainly wouldnt use the phrase "immunity to all spells".

I agree with most of what you said, definatly would have heart of fury in there somewhere.
I find myself not using Chilling Victory for the still high 10 energy cost
And just for the record, i did say immunite to targetting spells except enchantment removers :P

Kali. you havent tested it obviously. mirror of ice is a very easy cap and the soulbreaker is the perfect weapon for the build. try it before you bash it. It works pretty well. I made it because i wanted a build that perfectly fit my soulbreaker without an avatar. Its pretty good, i used it the first few months on my dervish, but now iv moved on to a generic reaper's build most of the time. its good introduction to the dervish. its heavily armored and easy to play. you can replace mirror of ice with reaper's sweep, but the elite really isnt that far into factions. its a sunjiang, not the end.

Im not a huge fan of Reapers either
Heh... well it would still be cool if you replied to the parts of my post where i explained why i dont think it works *as* good. I never said it doesnt work, i just provided my argumented opinion on why and how there are better options.
Personally, i never used only optimal builds, a lot of times i use fun builds which are sub-par but very enjoyable. I'd say Mirror of Ice can be one of those, but i dont see how it can come close to some really good Dervish builds.
btw im a bit busy lately so no time to test in PvE, maybe one day

the damage loss doesnt mean much cuz with 10 into water magic you pick up 20 damage so it really gains more most of the time. ive been testing it so far with out mirror of ice and it seems to be a great build
